Coursework Requirements
Students will have 5.5 credits of courses to complete before graduation. 2.5 credits are required courses of which all students must take Human Body Systems and Medical Terminology. During their senior year, students may choose to take either Biomedical Interventions or Medical Innovations. The remaining 3 credits can be completed from a list of optional classes. Please see the chart below for a list of all potential classes. Students must be enrolled in at least one required or additional course at all times while in the academy.
Grade and GPA Requirements
In addition to completing the required coursework, students are expected to maintain excellent grades in all classes. This will be measured by students’ cumulative GPA being a 2.5 or higher by the end of their senior year. Additionally, students must earn a C- or better in each of their required courses.Co-Curricular Requirements
In addition to completing course requirements, students will have annual co-curricular requirements to fulfill, with each year's requirements varying slightly. Sophomore year will require extracurricular involvement, volunteering, and reading a book related to healthcare. Junior year will involve the same and add a job shadow. Senior year removes the book reading. Each year, the students will also have quarterly check-ins with their advisor to receive updates, confirm progress on requirements, and acquire assistance as needed. Please refer to the chart below for a visual representation of the requirements for each year. You can also find paperwork to go along with these requirements on the Student Handouts page.Field Trips
In addition to the yearly Co-Curricular requirements, students will also have the opportunity to attend 1-2 field trips each year. These opportunities will vary from year to year, but they may provide students with unique chances to visit colleges, participate in professional laboratories, or practice skills in the field. These are mandatory trips unless there are extenuating circumstances. You can look for details about each year’s trips on the AMP Events page, and you can see pictures of previous years’ trips on the AMP Gallery page.Additional Expectations
Beyond the coursework and co-curricular requirements, students must meet the following expectations.
Communication
Effective communication is a key skill required of anyone in the healthcare field. To communicate effectively, students are expected to check their Google Classroom and email at least weekly. This will also include responding quickly to messages or emails so your advisor can confirm that action is being taken.

Time Management
Planning out and completing all tasks on time is another key skill needed in the medical field. Making a plan early on for how and when you will complete your courses and co-curricular activities will be essential to ensure you get everything done within your busy schedule. Waiting until the end can lead to problems, or even removal from the Academy if requirements aren’t met.

Responsibility
Taking responsibility for what you do or don’t do is essential, especially when people’s lives are at stake. To practice this, you are in charge of getting everything accomplished in the Academy. Be sure you know what you need to do, and ask if you’re unsure. Take responsibility if you make a mistake. Approach your advisor for help, don’t wait for them to contact you with a problem. Make sure to plan early, ask questions, and utilize your opportunities so you can get the most out of your time in the Academy.
